Hidden in a corner of the Roppongi Hills Shopping town lies this very distinct japanese restaurant among the other western cuisine restaurants. Shinzaburou specialises in grill asari (manila clams) locally found in the city of Kuwana, in Mie prefecture of Japan.
The range in the menu is not wide but it feature all the best stuff they can offer to the customers who come here.
Lunch and dinner menu are different. Come during lunch to get a sampler of their cuisine at a much pocket friendlier price.
The signboard menu is all printed in japanese but the staff will give you an english menu when you enter.
It seems like all the customers are regulars and there were no foreigners in here except for me with my companion.
This is one of the chef recommended item on the list. The robust flavour in this soup is a testimony of how sweet and fresh the Kuwana clams are. The noodles are cooked to al denté as well so slurping the noodles with mouthfuls of soup are life pleasures. Like most ramen, the ingredients are little but what you get is tasting the effort put into making the bowl of soup. From the boiling of soup stock to hand pulled noodles, you can overlook the fact it does not have much physical ingredients as sides since the taste is all it needs for the price paid.
♥♥♥♥♥Black Pepper Smoke Grill Duck Rillet
Look at the sumptious smoked duck rillet still oozing meat juices after its grill. The tenderness of this is extraordinary and I love the whiff of black pepper that brought out that contrast of sweetness in the red meat. The mustard piped on the side gives an extra punch to the flavour. Very well presented dish overall.
The complete set consists of tofu miso soup, radish pickles and bowl of rice.
This was not promoted as their signature dish as they are all about clams but seeing quite a number of customers ordering this, I thought I needed to try it out! And its quite a safe bet to follow as the Japanese knows their stuffs!
