♥♥♥♥♥ Sea Urchin & Seaweed Soup w Baby Abalone
♥♥♥♥ Abalone Porridge
I cannot much more emphasize that these two is such a bargain for its price paid. Too generous! Said, the portions above are supposed for just a person a bowl but believe me, you will need to share if you want to have variety. Eating the portion alone is way too much for a girl. I share the meal with 2 other companions (See full table below.) The Seaweed soup is filled with Miyeok(korean seaweed) and way generous sea urchin! Don’t be deceived by its looks, start scooping up your soup and you find sea urchins revealing itself. Its taste is extremely refreshing for the palate. Topped off with baby abalones were a surprise as I really wonder how they make profits with these amount of ingredients. It would definitely cost more to buy ingredients to cook it ourselves.
Taste is marvelous of course for the abalone porridge too! If you have been to Korea by tour groups and had the abalone porridge, forget about that! They will never get you this quality of porridge so smooth and silky yet thick and filling with loads of fresh abalone chunks. YES!! I’m getting so excited about this .. its CHUNKS! I didn’t type it wrongly and you didn’t see it by mistake :) So many people have been giving me feedbacks about this Korean abalone porridge are a faux passoffs of small tinnie bits of abalone all mashed into the porridge miserably but I really have to say NOT AT ALL for this! Try it and you won’t regret!! I really can’t wait to come back for my 2nd round :)
♥♥♥♥♥ Fried Fish of the Day
Mmmmm… this was a recommendation from the Ahjumoni and it was absolutely a GREAT TRY! Its so fresh and meat was fleshy and tender. The fried fish wasn’t too oily and after frying only brings out the seafood’s savoury taste. Beside my table was a korean couple having seafood hotpot and theirs look fabulous too! But my bet was it was quite spicy as they kept downing on water.
*Konggi Bap (steamed rice) not included. Separate order needed.
♥♥♥ Banchan (Korean Style Side Dishes)
Again its the same as anywhere else, you can get banchan refills if its not enough. We recommend the Cabbage Kimchi, Spinach and Soy sauced Burdock. The anchovies are not worth the mention and if you are adventurous enough, try out the fermented raw squid but WARNING, read this > I didn’t like it and so did my companions :( Sorry ahjumoni that we can’t seem to appreciate the pungent smell once it enters our mouth and slimy skin with a chewy texture was out of our imagination. Not for the singaporean’s tastebud unfortunately.
♥♥♥♥♥ Jeju Orange Makkeoli
If you love makkeoli, try this version made with the aromatic jeju citrus fruit. Its wonderfully smooth on the tongue, lingers a sweet scent aftertaste, very rich and milky. Best of all, it has a low alchoholic content you can drink it in the day! Can you believe we were having our meal as early as 10am and drinking the makkeoli in the morning already ~ OH my love *gulp
Do not drink if you are driving.
♥♥♥♥♥ Experience wonderful homecooked style food prepared by ahjumoni, so fresh and abundant, its a miss if you pass this! It’s a totally perfect choice after a hike on the Seongsan Ilchubong Sunrise Peak to replenish all your energy from Seon Mi Sik Dang. The seafoods here are so good and yummy. A MUST-GO!!!
Tips – Get your own water from the cup steriliser and water dispenser as always in most Korean eateries. They have english menu on the walls, its tourist friendly. Seatings are the traditional ondol style where you need to remove shoes after entering and step up to the eating areas.
